The content of the ancient poem can be translated as follows:

Long have I recited the music of the court
Wishing to be at ease and share laughter.
Because of my previous works at the banquet
I am praised for my long-lasting talent.
I am grateful but unable to express my thanks.
The young nobleman displeased commands the attendants
To summon the beautiful ladies in groups of ten
They surround a square platform and stand
Singing together with a mournful and sorrowful sound.
After a while the singers present a written poem
On a golden flower and blue paper displayed on the platform.
I carefully examine the words and paintings
And realize that it is my own creation.
Before I finish reading one of the singers
Snatches the poem and puts it in his sleeve
Raising his wine cup and saying with bitterness
The line 'Half of the golden hairpin is made of gold'
Is recited day and night why do you not think of it?
The young nobleman says If this is the case
Why are there so many inferior works?
He claps his hands laughs and wakes up
Suddenly not understanding what it means.

Dongpo continues the song with a quote.

The green waves and fragrant grass on the road
Remind me of the parting at the southern port.

杨冠卿简介： 杨冠卿（1138-？）是南宋时期著名的诗人，字梦锡，江陵（今属湖北）人。他曾举进士，后被任命为九江戎司掾和广州知州，但由于官场斗争而被罢免。晚年他隐居于临安，几乎不出门，与姜夔等诗人相互切磋琢磨。 杨冠卿才华清俊，尤其以四六文词脍炙人口，流丽浑雅，备受赞誉。他的代表作品为《客亭类稿》十五卷，此外，他还编有《群公词选》三卷（已佚），自序曰：“余漂流困踬，久客诸侯间……时有所撄拂，则取酒独酌，浩歌数阕，怡然自适，似不觉天壤之大，穷通之为殊途也。”他的诗词在传世中备受推崇，《四库总目》也对其进行了展示和传承。 关于杨冠卿的具体生卒年份，他的出生时间为1138年，但逝世时间并未记载。
