Riverside Daffodils
Awakening from my dreams, I find the tower locked high;
Sobering from wine, I see the low-hanging curtain nigh.
As last year's springtime grief seems to grow,
Amidst the falling blooms I stand alone, sorrowful and slow.
In the fine rain, a pair of swallows fly,
Reminding me of my love that I cannot deny.
I still remember the day I saw pretty Ping,
Dressed in silk that embroidered two hearts in a ring,
Revealing lovesickness as she touched pipa’s string.
The moon shines bright just as it did last year,
Witnessing her departure that left me in tears.
Amidst the riverside daffodils that sway,
I lament in solitude, awaiting a brighter day.
